Coaching CourseAttended the 2-day coaching course. Basically this course shows us the power of asking questions. Everyone actually have an answer to their own problem or to the goals that they want to acheive, and coaching is to ask that person some questions to make them think and reflect on what they actually want, how big is the gap between their goal and reality, what are the possible actions that person can do to acheive his/her goals, and finally the coach and the coachee will agree on what small (or big) steps the coachee will do by their next meetup session.
Interesting concept, and it is true that most of the time, a strong open-ended question like "what do you really want in your life?", "What is the one thing about having $1 million in your bank account that appeals to you most?" can be really thought provoking! Because that peson might just very well reply " Well, if i hav $1 mil in my bank account, I can quit my job and enjoy life!" From this answer, we can show the coachee that what he/she really want is not the $1 mil, he/she is not happy with his/her job and felt that this job is hindering him/her from enjoying life. So he/she may wanna change his/her goal to finding joy in the job!!
After doing some practise role playing in class, its really not easy to coach, cos you need to have an open mind, and listen without any assumptions/ opinion on that situation. Most of us struggled to refrain ourselves from jumping in to give suggestions/ solutions to the coachee. This is a big no no in coaching as the coachee himself will have to come out with some possible options he can and is willing to do to acheive his goal.
Frankly, I'm not prepared to introduce this to workplace... mayb i'm not confident with my skills yet...and really... its time consuming... you need to keep track of that person's progress every week... well mayb can try out with some friends, and if there's a time when i suddenly very free at work, i may try it out =p
CFASo finally I'm gg for CFA again.
Well its all for the 90% funding that is ending by the end of this year that makes me go for the june 2011 exam, and start the CFA-FICS research programme this year.
I hope i can manage my time well so that I would still have some time for violin, go for KB and Runs, have fun with deardear =) and mayb even gg for golf lessons with deardear !! My goal would be to study hard and play hard!! Or even try to reach to the ultimate level of enjoying CFA!! wahahahaha!!
